BIOGRAPHY
Recording Artist Leslie Lugo is a bilingual International award winning performer and accomplished Grammy recognized singer/songwriter with a new highly anticipated CD “Éxitos Del Ayer” just released this year on her own Independent Record label LuGold Records. The 19 song CD produced by 14-time Grammy award winner Gilbert Velasquez is a tribute album honoring the great world renowned Latin composers of the past and features beautiful timeless classics in Spanish and English. Also included are two originals written by Ms. Lugo; “Cuando Fue Tu Querer” and bonus track “Te Lo Pido” a salsa collaboration with two time Grammy winner, Marlow Rosado.
Leslie has been a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS/The Grammys) since 1998 and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (LARAS/The Latin Grammys) since its inception. An accredited BMI songwriter and owner of her own publishing company LuGOLD Music, she has written songs for many other artists. In 1999, Leslie was honored with an accolade from The Grammys for her songwriter contribution on the Grammy Award winning Best Tejano Performance CD “Said and Done” by Tejano legend Flaco Jimenez. She also co-wrote a song for Jimenez for the Woody Allen movie, “Picking Up The Pieces.” Leslie’s original song and vocal performance of “El Nirichin”, off her debut CD, was featured in the 2015 The Traveling Picture Show Company Movie “Divine Access”. Her dynamic voice was also featured on the music soundtrack of the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp movie “Machete” and also on the 2015 “From Dusk Till Dawn” TV series soundtrack directed by Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.
As a seasoned studio musician with an abundance of recording credits, Leslie has had the opportunity of working with some of the industry’s leading artists/musicians. To date, some of her most successful collaborations have garnered an amazing six Grammy/Latin Grammy nominations and a Grammy Award win. Leslie was honored with six accolades by NARAS/LARAS for her participation as vocalist on Grammy/Latin Grammy nominated productions.
Some of her most noteworthy recordings include: The chart-topping HIT Duet “Caen Porque Caen” with Latin Grammy winner Joe Posada off his CD “Amor Y Fuego” garnering a 2006 Latin Grammy nomination for Best Tejano Album and nominated Tejano Music Awards Vocal Duo of the Year. She recorded on Tejano Super Star Jay Perez’s “All of Me” CD nominated Best Tejano Album at the 49th annual Grammy Awards and also recorded on Tejano legend David Marez’s CD “Corazon De Oro” nominated for a 2007 Grammy and again for a 2007 Latin Grammy for Best Tejano Album. In 2009, Leslie reunited with Joe Posada to record the HIT Duet “Si Cocinas Como Caminas” off his CD “Point of View”. The CD was nominated Best Tejano Album at both 2009 Grammys and 2010 Latin Grammy and also nominated Vocal Duo of the Year at the 2010 Tejano Music Awards. She recorded the HIT Duet “Eclipse Total” with David Marez off his CD “Eclipse Total”. The CD was awarded 2010 CD Project of the Year by the Tejano Academy and scored a Tejano Music Awards nomination for Vocal Duo of the Year.

By the age of sixteen, Leslie was Lead Vocalist for a 17 piece orchestra and at seventeen; she was the youngest performer to represent Texas in the National OTI, one of the largest most prestigious International song festivals in the world. Forming her own Leslie Lugo Band while still a teenager, she embraced her Mexican-American heritage singing in English and Spanish; effortlessly crossing musical boundaries while performing an eclectic mix of musical genres.
The Leslie Lugo Band has a multitude of entertainment experience performing National & International Conventions, Community/Corporate events, Clubs and festivals with an extensive repertoire specializing in today’s Top 40, POP, Standards, Rock, and Jazz to Latin & Tropical Dance Hits, Cumbia, Salsa/Merengue and Tejano music. Leslie also showcases and pays tribute to true traditional Mariachi Music celebrating the rich beautiful culture and keeping the tradition alive for future generations. Ann Romney, wife of Republican candidate for President Mitt Romney, was the keynote speaker with top government officials, dignitaries and world media in attendance. Celebrating Latino Heritage at the Republican National Reception, she opened for “Journey”, one of the most popular American rock bands of all time. Leslie was one of the headliners at the 2014 Lucrazon Global Celebration in Los Angeles with former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, former President of Mexico Vicente Fox and former Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez as honorable guest speakers. She was the featured vocalist performing with Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s Band “Chingon” on the premier of “EL REY” Cable Television Network launched in 2014. Performing at the largest convention in San Antonio history, Leslie took the spotlight for an inspiring a Capella bilingual performance of the spiritual hymn “Amazing Grace” at the 75th Alcoholics Anonymous International Convention. Her powerful, emotional performance before a packed Alamodome audience brought the estimated 65,000 from 98 countries to their feet with resounding applause. Leslie’s memorable performance was captured in a Documentary tracing the history of AA from its founding to present day. As lead background vocalist for International Super Star Cristian Castro, Leslie toured extensively for his concert appearances across North and South America.
