After 40 years in Austin, Paul Klemperer has emerged as one of the most well-informed, eclectic, and engaging performers and educators in Texas. As a saxophonist and vocalist, he leads several bands, featuring classic Jazz, Blues, Latin, American Songbook, and popular music from the 1940s-1970s. Paul specializes in connecting with his audience, blending musical expertise and excitement, humor and cultural history to create an entertaining and fun experience.
Paul has toured nationally and internationally for over 30 years, and continues to divide his time between Austin and the road, bringing his soulful saxophone sound across the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Asia.
In addition, Paul presents lectures, workshops, and small group classes. His topics include Jazz In American History, Music and Aging, Music and Cross-Cultural Understanding, as well as practical classes in Songwriting, Improvisation, and Music Theory.
