Don "Poppy" Villemez is available to perform concert shows as a solo artists paying tribute to the big band music of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Michael Buble, Dean Martin, Perry Como and Nat King Cole plus country classics from George Strait, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams and many more. "Poppy" also offers a Malt Shop Memories Show and a Sing-A-Long Show featuring the hits of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Don "Poppy" Villemez began playing music in local rock and roll, jazz and big bands in the New Orleans area in 1965. Through the years he has performed with some of the finest musicians in the New Orleans area and has appeared in venues with legends Barbara Mandrell, The Temptations, Travis Tritt, The Four Lads, The Four Freshmen, The Stylistics, Clarence "Frogman" Henry, Ernie K Doe, Benny Spellman, Helen Reddy, Peter Noone (Herman of the Hermits) and Danny Gans. Poppy was inducted into the West Bank Musicians Hall of Fame in New Orleans in 2009. |
